were quiet this week, but we still had an enjoyable evening.
Kirsty, shown in the group on the right is now the manageress of
a SCOPE charity shop in south Manchester and she has now arranged
to bring along some clothes to sell for the charity on wednesday
the 12th of March.
Susan, in the same picture, told me that her friend Jessica, who
came to the club for several years, is now unwell, so I would like
to extend our best wishes to her.
Susan, Lisa, Kirsty and Lauren
was good to see Cindy still going strong, even with a broken foot,
which she has been sporting for several weeks now. She tells me
it is getting better and hopefully will soon lose the splint boot
she is having to wear.
Chloe was here on a rare visit as her life is so busy just now.
It was lovely to see her looking so elegant in this stunning dress,
but she is off on holiday again next week.
Next week, the 22nd of January we will be holding a cheese tasting
event here, organised by Tina, so that should be interesting and
a bit of fun.
Wednesday the 8th of January 2014
week we had a "Glittery Dress" theme so here is a selection
of the people wearing glitter outfits who were here by 8 pm in the
On the right we have the two ladies who most often look after the
door for us each wednesday evening. Tina was justifiably pleased
with this skirt that she had kept in mind for this theme.

Diane and Rachel + Diane's tights and shoes
will now show some of them individually or in smaller groups. Diane
was also wearing these exotic tights plus a pair of shoes that has
the criss-cross theme included in the heels.
Sylvia was well glittery but it doesn't show too clearly in these

also welcomed a new member Amanda this evening. It was lovely to
meet her and she was so happy to find a group like this where she
realised she could comfortably start the process of realising her
It was also great to meet Sarah and Libby again. They both joined
this club a few years ago now but have since gone on to living almost
full time as women and this has tended to keep them away from groups
like ours, just because their need is less. Even so they are both
grateful for the start this group has given them and are happy to
come in occasionally just to support us and say thank you.

the evening Rachel and Lois came in after a long gap bringing with
them the DVD that Lois has spent many months working on for her
College project. She wrote to me over a year ago asking if any of
our members would be willing to allow her to use them as the subject
of her media project as she was very motivated to creating DVDs
that show a true life picture of people like us in as good a light
After , not too much thought, I decided to introduce her to Paula
who I thought might be willing to take part in such a venture.
They "Hit it off" exceedingly well and have spent many
months between them filming many episodes of Paula's "awakening"
into the Tgirl world with much co-operation from her family and
friends as well.
has also spent much time editing the resuling footage into what
is now a 20 minute DVD and for which she received a distinction
when she submitted to DVD to her tutors. We had been told that
the DVD was ready so meanwhile Millie offered to lend us some
small speakers that we could attach to our laptop so that we could
show the DVD with sound at the club when it was ready.
We had it all set up ready so were able to show it this evening
to a very full house. It was very well received by everyone who
watched it and Lois and Paula are to be congratulated on the excellent
product they have created. We have now been given a copy of the
DVD so plan to show it again on wednesday the 5th of February
so put that date in your diary if you would like to see it.
Wednesday the 1st of January 2014
to the New Year. It was great to see so many of you raring to go
for another year, even straight after the celebrations of the night
On the left we have Dayna who doesn't manage to get here very often
but was able to make it today because of the bank holiday.
The same applies to Stella who leads a very busy life but was happy
to come along and pay her membership for this year when she found
that we were meeting today. Thanks to all of you who made the effort
and helped start us off with a boost to our funds to get the year
We also had one brand new person come along, still unsure what name
to use but has joined the club anyway and I am sure we will more
of her soon.
Milli, JD and Genevieve
above, is now one of our most regular members. She bought the wig
she is using just before Christmas from Linda, at a bargain price
and is very pleased with it. It really suits her.
JD in the middle of the photo above, has been visiting a friend
here in Manchester over the Christmas break and had stayed until
now so she could come to the club again. She plays in several bands
along with the friend she is visiting.
Roli is one of our newer members who is enjoying the opportunity
the club gives her to try out new clothes.
had a good attendance this evening but unfortunately Lauren, who
does the bar for us, was unwell, suffering from the problems she
had before when she had to spend a week in hospital. I have spoken
to her since then and she is now back working again and expects
to be with us on wednesday.
Next week, the 8th of January, we will be have a "Sparkly
Dress" theme night so I am hoping to get some good pictures
to show here. I hope I can find something in my wardrobe. Mary
I had a membership renewal payment from Mel, who is now living
in Cyprus and when I wrote and thanked her for it she wrote me
a very nice letter back so I will add it to the thank you letters
page on this website so that you can all read it.
Wednesday the 18th of December 2013
expected this week to be a bit quieter following the party last
week and we were not wrong, but were still pleased with the number
of people that came along, to make another successful evening as
the final one for 2013.
Alex, shown here on the left, joined us for the first time this
evening and immediately agreed to join us as the first new member
for 2014. Welcome Alex and I hope this is the start of a new adventure
Genevieve had bought a new hat not long ago and used her outing
today to venture out in it, so here she is showing it off.
is a fairly new member of the club and is already becoming adventurous
wearing this excellent silver sequin dress which looks superb.
Kate, on the right, has been a member of Concord for several years
now. I was fascinated to hear that she has recently had a hip replacement
and is back doing almost all the very physical outdoor activities
that she is addicted to.
She amazed me by saying that within two hours of her waking up in
the recovery room they had her up and walking about on the new hip.
She said that the biggest problem she had was being told that she
must sleep on her back for several weeks until all the muscle has
healed properly in case the joint slips out. She has survived all
this and is now back to her old self.
Tina & Rachel
Mary & Genevieve
that's it for this year, as we obviously have no meeting on Christmas
day. Our next meeting will be on wednesday the 1st of January 2014.
I would like to thank everyone who came to Concord this year and
helped to make it such a friendly club. Best wishes for the rest
of the Christmas holiday and I hope you all have a good and prosperous
new year. Mary
Wednesday the 11th of December 2013
Genevieve, Judith, Tina & Millie
you can see, today was our Christmas celebration at the club, with
an excellent buffet laid on by Villaggio's.
Lauren had laid on lots of cold food plus hot Pizzas, which kept
on coming throughout the evening so that everyone got them freshly
cooked as they worked up the queue. We had asked her to cater for
80 people and that is almost exactly the number that came through
the door, so it worked out well.
Gwen & Fiona
was pleasing to see that a few of you dressed to suit the occasion.
I was really pleased to see Fiona and Gwen who cannot get here very
often but made a real effort this evening. Gwen has shown her support
for the club by rejoining for 2014 even though she cannot get here
as she would like.
Alicia, also comes from comes from a distance and has not been coming
for very long, but she really enjoys the atmosphere here at the

here in the food queue are Dee and Pauline. Dee who only manages
to get here occasionally and Pauline who is a leading light on the
Transtastic website have known each other for a long time so they
took the opportunity to catch up with each other.
Amber, shown on the right with Sylvia cannot get here very often
but is always grateful for the start given to her by this club.

on in the evening we were visited by a newcomer, Jasmine, who was
visiting Manchester for a few days with her husband and they happened
to come into the restaurant downstairs for some food.
Someone told them about our event so they came up to investigate.
They were a lovely couple so I invited them in and they stayed till
the end of the evening. As there was still plenty of food left I
offered them some and Jasmine had a good helping. Before she left
she insisted on giving a £5.00 donation to the club.
They had come quite a distance but I think we gave a favourable
indication of how welcoming Manchester is, so they may return later.

you can see there was not a lot of food left at the end of the
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking Lauren, Meshi,
Mary and the staff in the kitchen for all the work they put in
to help make this a memorable evening for us. Thank you.
We will have a normal club meeting next week and then the following
wednesday is Christmas day. We will not be here then so I would
like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a prosperous new
wednesday after that is New Years Day and we will be here for
all of you that have not celebrated too hard the night before.
I hope to see many of you then, Mary
Wednesday the 4th of December 2013
Linda & Victoria
week we had the pleasure of Linda and Victoria's company again.
They had brought along a large collection of wigs at £20 each
including many coloured ones which proved very popular.
Here on the right we have Genevieve in a very fetcing red wig that
went well with the coat she was wearing and below we have Pauline
who was happy to take off her multicoloured one and try on this
green wig and Roli bought a pink one. They are rather fun.
Linda and Victoria have now already arranged to return to the club,
with their wares at 3 monthly intervals so we will see them again
on the 5th of March.
Pauline and Roli
Genevieve & Judith
Also, as you can see here, Judith bought a very nice blonde wig
which suited her much better that she had expected.
I was pleased to see Katie here again this week as she doesn't get
out much. She very generously brought along a clean bag of clothes
that she can no longer fit into which she donated to the club. We
will either sell them at a sale later next year for the club funds,
or donate them to one of our members if someone suitable appears
who could use them.
Roli & Erin
on the left, only manages to get here occasionally but it is always
good to see her when she can make it.
Andrea, on the right, bought this stunning dress down in London
a few weeks ago and this is the first chance she has had to wear
Dont forget, this coming wednesday the 11th of December, we will
be holding our christmas celebration at the club which includes
a free buffet to everyone who comes along. We normally get a very
large crowd and it is great fun to meet many of you who cannot get
here very often. I hope to see you then, Mary.
Wednesday the 27th of November 2013
Gill and Frances
was lovely to welcome Gill back after quite a long absence. Here
she is having a long talk with Frances. I spoke with her at the
end of the evening and she said that she had enjoyed the evening
having spoken with many of the people who came. She met quite a
few new people who now know of the service she offers. All her current
business now comes from T girls which she really enjoys.
Gill and Frances
Caroline and Genevieve
Julia and Nikki
We had a
number of distant visitors this week. On the left we have Caroline who
comes up to Manchester from London to visit an old friend a few times
a year and always takesthe opportunity to drop in to the club.
Then in the
middle we have Julia who visited
us from Brighton a few weeks ago and here she is again talking with Nikki
who is also an occasional visitor but I think from not so far.
On the right we have Alicia who has now joined the club and has been a
few times now, all the way from Burton on Trent, which is quite a drive
to return the same evening.
on the left, comes in when she can but she leads a busy life and
can only make it occasionally. Even so she is very appreciative
of the club as she knows she can come along any week and relax and
meet friends when she has time.
Kira, on the right, comes when she can and loves the opportunity
it gives her to dress experimentally and be her real self here.
Judith and Millie
Frances and Lynn
Kirsty and Lisa
Mary, Kirsty, Lauren and Lauren's Mum
week Lauren asked me if it would be OK if her mother came to visit
the club and of course I said yes, so this week here she is. It
was lovely to see her again as I met her when I visited Lauren in
hospital a few months ago. Sadly I still cant remember her name
but that is just my brain getting a bit woolly now. She enjoyed
her evening meeting the members and finishing up having a long chat
with Hannah and her partner.
This Saturday we held our Christmas meal downstairs in the restaurant
and 21 people attended. We had a lovely meal and a very enjoyable
evening. I took several photos, with the help of Lauren, so here
they are below. I will not put names to them as it gets too complicated
had rung me earlier in the week to say that she was going to have
to give up her ticket to the meal as the cheapest Hotel room she
could find in Manchester was £190 for one night. As I have
recently tidied up our spare room to make it habitable again I
offered her a room for the night, which she accepted, so she was
able to come after all. It was good to have her company for the
evening and staying with us and in the car, so thank you Chloe,
it added to my enjoyment of the evening.
FORGET, next wednesday. the 4th of Dec we will have Linda and
Victoria with us having a "Wig Sale"
the following week, the 11th we will have our Christmas party
with a free buffet. I hope to see many of you there.
Wednesday the 20th of November 2013
Sarah, Joanne & Jenny
was great to see Sarah and Jenny here, out on one of their rare
nights off from running their hotel in Blackpool. To the TG community
it is known as The Tranny Lodge and to the rest of the world it
is now called Scarlets Hotel. It can still be found under either
name on the internet. Behind them was Joanne who is very busy these
days on wednesday evenings but today she was free so good to see
Rachel & Rebbeka
the right we have Rachel and Rebbeka. Rachel has been before, some
time ago now but Rebekka was here for the first time. She has already
written asking for a copy of this photo as she says that it is not
often she gets the chance. They both come quite a distance so are
not likely to be frequent visitors but I think they enjoyed our
was lovely to see Mya again as she is so busy we dont see her enouph

I was very pleased to hear that she is in full employment as Mya

I was pleased to see Lucy and Lance again so soon after their last
visit. I hope this continues.
Lucy and Lance
Sylvia and Jessica
Sylvia, shown here with Jessica, has not been well lately so I am
glad to see her back with us now restored to her normal self.
Jessica has not been able to get here for quite a long time now
as she has been tied up with unexpected family affairs. I think
things are getting settled and we may now see more of her. I hope

you can see Genevieve was very pleased with her new shoes and I
must say they do look stylish.

was very pleasing to see so many girls out on Sunday afternoon
for the Transgender Day of Remembrance. It was very cold but this
did not stop a big crowd from gathering around the new memorial
in Sackville park. We should all thank the organisers for making
such efforts to bring this event to the level it now is. I am
not including any pictures here but I am sure there will be many
visible on facebook etc as I saw a lot being taken.
next week we will have Gill Springay back with us again to help
people with any makeup needs that they may have. Then on Saturday
we will hold our Christmas meal here in Villaggio's. If anyone
else wishes to come then please let me know on wednesday as we
do need to forewarn the restaurant staff so that the evening goes

Joan and Jessica
Hi from Genevieve, Mary had another engagement this evening, so
it was my honour to be hostess.
We had a buzzing evening, the stripe theme being popular, &
tempting girls out. Amongst the newcomers was Jess from Halifax.
She is a good friend of Joan (our forum administrator).
newbie was Helen who had travelled a fair distance with her partner
Julie. Julie really enjoyed chatting but did not want to be photographed
brought a 2nd pair of shoes she had mentioned on the forum.

new comer was Sophie, & she spent much of her time on her acrylic

would like to thank Genevieve for taking on the role of Hostess
this evening and providing all the pictures and info for this
week will be a normal club evening without a theme.
following week we will have Gill Springay back with us again giving
makeup advice and help.
on Saturday the 30th of November we will have our Chistmas meal
here at Villaggio's. It is not too late to order your place at

special theme this evening so we are just left with a lot of beautiful
people to show off.
Michelle on the right was already in the changing room when I got
there but she sure does scrub up well when all the titivating is
over. She hasn't beeen able to make it for a few weeks due to work
so it was nice to see that she hasn't deserted us yet.
Amy, on the left, has been coming off and on for several years now
and always manages to be cheerful and outgoing. Her great joy is
to take people out round the village and show them a good time.
If you are offered the chance to go with her then take it, she is
Katie, shown here, visits us all the way from Kent when ever she
gets the chance.
Over the last few years since she started coming here, we have seen
her blossom into the really attractive girl she has become. It is
a real pleasure to see someone like her doing so well.
Deanna & Genevieve
shown above, has recently returned to Concord after a long gap and
has made friends with Genevieve. She has now joined Concord as a
member so welcome to the club Deanna, I hope you stay with us now.
the end of the evening another new girl came in called Tina and
here she is in her finery on her first day. Welcome Tina you look
Next week we are having a "Stripey" theme night so it
will be interesting to see what people come up with. Unfortunately
I will not be able to be there as I have a prior engagement. I
am sorry to miss it as I have a few stripey outfits I could have
will be standing in for me, taking the pictures and writing this
blog so I hope you will all give her an easy time. Mary

Tina & Millie
It was a cold and miserable night just before Halloween and witches
were afoot. We were all set up and wondering who would make it tonight.
were not to be disappointed. It is clear that many of you like dressing
up with a theme that everyone seems to understand. Not only were
there lots of different disguises but there were so many of you
as well. We had a fabulous evening. Thank you all for making the

is the first group we pictured of the early birds, but someone had
to take the photo and that role fell to Genevieve.
Roli came as Brad Pitt from the Rocky Horror show and it was good
to see Sarahlouise who now lives in Blackpool. It is a long time
since she was last here.

A bit later in the evening we had another go as quite a few more
people had appeared. It was great to see Chloe again after her long
absence and Rachel on the far right was here before she goes over
to Leeds for the "first friday" event.
Haley and Mel
on the left visited us a few weeks ago and asked if she could come
again and bring Mel with her. Mel is from Cumbria and it is her
first time with us so welcome Mel, I hope we see you again soon.
Susy on the right was another surprise visitor as she last came
when we were in the Rembrandt about 5 years ago. Welcome back Susy.
new visitor who came in this evening was Rosemary shown here on
the left. She has been meaning to come along for a long time and
has only just found the opportunity as she comes from quite a distance.
It was very rewarding to talk to her and find out that she has been
reading this blog for a long time. Because of this she was able
to recognise many of the people at the bar, even giving their names,
as these are all on the blog under each picture. She said she immediately
felt at home because she was among people that she already knew
about and could relate to.
Alicia, on the right, came for the second time this evening and
this time she joined the club , so welcome Alicia, it was good to
see you again.

Lynn, Linda and Judith
had Linda and Victoria with us again this week selling their very
reasonably priced wigs and jewellery. They will be here again on
the 4th of december so if you missed your chance this week, try
to make sure you get here then.
We had a new visitor from the south with us today called Jady and
she has somehow managed to get into several pictures shown below.

is a great advocate of the St Audries Bay weeks at the holiday camp
near Minehead in Devon run in May and October each year. If any
of you are interested in going for a weeks holiday en femme then
this is for you. The weeks are coded as "The Kentisbury"
weeks on the St Audries brochures so these are the weeks that are
kept just for transgender guests. Find their website via Google.
Karen, Amy and Fiona
first timer this week was Karen, shown here on the left with Amy
and Fiona. She has already joined the club so we hope to see a lot
more of her in the future. Welcome Karen, you look at home already.
Lance, shown here on the right with his friend Lucy, is a long term
loyal member of Concord who came in to say hello and pay his membership
fee for the year. Lance is an advocate of Men wearing skirts and
sells them via his website called Midas Clothes. Lucy has been helping
him develop the artistic side of the site.
Lance and Lucy
Genevieve, Mica, Judith, Frances, Tina & Millie
Kirsty, Charley & Lisa
we have Zee, who loves going out round the village and making new
friends wherever she goes.
Charley in the middle picture was here for the second time and has
now joined the club.
Tara has returned after a long break so I hope she can make it a
bit sooner next time. Welcome back Tara.
of you will remember Ana from Brazil. I first met her when she
came to the club in the Rembrandt. After she left to return home
she invited me to go and stay with her family in southern Brazil.
I went and stayed for 5 weeks in november 2011 and was made most
welcome by all of them.
Last year she and her family, Paulo and Laura came over in july
and came to the Sparkle Ball. We all then spent a few days driving
round and visiting various places in the middle of England.
This last week Ana returned to give a lecture at Leeds University
and we managed to meet up a few times while she was here. She
had hoped to visit the club on wednesday evening but the timing
of her lecture in Leeds made that difficult. We managed to meet
up for a meal in Taurus on thursday evening and visited the TG
memorial in Sackville gardens after dark as shown in the photo
on the left. I am sorry it is out of focus but the only camera
we had with a flash now wont focus properly. It was lovely to
meet her again and she sends her best wishes to all the girls
who knew her when she was here before.
It was a flying visit so she had to return to Brazil on friday
morning last week.
Wednesday the 16th of October 2013
Joan, Mary and Michelle
was great to meet Joan and Michelle this evening. Joan is the lady
who runs the TransLakesNights in Cumbria and Michelle is active
in the Stoke area. Joan has never been to Concord before but as
she is very active in running the group in Cumbria she was anxious
to see what our group is like so that she could feel happy to recommend
people to come to visit us. We already had a good few people in
the club so I think she left with a very good impression.
Our member Pipit often sends me info about the Translakes group
which I add to the "other groups" section of this website
but all their info is available at their website https://sites.google.com/site/translakesnights
had several new people come along to the club this evening and the
ones that were happy to have their picture taken are shown here.
Roli, on the left , had found us on the internet and came along
with lots of confidence and the start of the evening and has now
become member no 518, so welcome Roli it is always a pleasure to
welcome new members.
Both Sylvia and Alicia came along seperately later in the evening
and I am sure we will see them again very soon.
We had one other couple who came and spent most of the evening with
us but as he was not "en femme" yet I will not put their
names here. I hope they were encouraged and will return soon.

week we will have Linda and Victoria with us again selling wigs

we will have a "Halloween" theme evening. Start getting
your outfits organised now.

Nicky & Karen
week we had our friends Nicky and Karen from "Love your Beads"
with us again. They are always such a cheerful pair and bring
a very pretty stock with them so it is a pleasure to have them
along. I hope they feel that their visits are worth it for them.
On the right we have Genevieve who is our membership secretary
and one of our most regular members, Then Joanne and Caroline.
Joanne has been suffering from ill health for some time now so
has been unable to get here. It is good to see her back again.
Caroline comes along as often as she can but as she lives in south
London this cannot be very often. It is always good to see her
as she has made many friends up here.
Genevieve, Joanne and Caroline
on the left has just returned from a week on the "Norfolk Broads",
where she visited with some friends she made on one of her cruise
trips. She enjoyed the trip but says she would use a different boat
next time as the one they were on had very poor visibility for steering.
We miss her when she is away as she is our most loyal door money
collector so this role has to be shared with others when she is
On the right we have Tina who also always helps on the door until
she has to leave soon after 9pm. She is shown here with our other
regular member Milli. You can differentiate between the two milli(e)s
by the spelling of their names.
Tina and Milli
had a new person come along this week called Georgina. She came
dressed as a man but had done the thing that I always advise, which
is to bring some female clothes with her, so that she can change
if she wishes during the evening. After chatting for a while I left
her with Milli and she very quickly persuaded her to go up to the
changing room to get changed. She then came down and spent the rest
of the evening with us and told me how relaxed she felt in the atmosphere
of the club. I did take a picture to show her but have not included
it here as she asked me not to. I am sure that will come later.

club has a number of people who attend very regularly plus many
others who only come occasionally. It is always pleasing to see
those who only come occasionally and this week two I have shown
above are Caroline and Sabrina. The club would be a poorer place
without all these visiting members so it is well worth it for us
if any of you out there make the effort when you can, to come along
and pay us a visit.

This evening was advertised as a "Silver Dress" theme
night. It became obvious as the evening progressed that Silver was
not a popular colour, but no matter we still got a few people looking
very different from their usual colours.
My apologies to Kelly and Sheila, who came later in the evening
all decked out in Silver outfits and I failed to take a picture.
I am sorry but it was quite a busy evening as we also had three
new people come along, plus more than the average turnout even though
they weren't in Silver.
new visitors this evening were Jay from Birkenhead, who had just
come for an evening out in Manchester, without knowing that Manchester
Concord existed. She was befriended by a very helpful guy in the
New Union, who brought her along to the club and introduced her.
We then managed to lend her sufficient clothes so that she felt
comfortable to stay for the reat of the evening.
Then there was Carina from Chile who is over here at the University
and had found us on the internet so came along to introduce herself.
She is here for at least 18 months so we may see alot more of her.
Finally there was Naomi, who lives locally, here in Salford, and
had been watching the website for sometime before she finally decided
to come along in person.
Welcome to all three of you, I hope you continue to come and enjoy
our company. Pictures will hopefully come later when they are more
If you remember, a few weeks ago I mentioned that a long time friend
of mine, Julie, had appeared at the club again for the first time
in very many years. I was very pleased to see her here again this
week and here is a picture that I am sure many early members of
Concord will recognise. She still has her good looks and figure
and is just as energetic as ever. I am sure Bev and Paula1 will
remember her well.
It is also always a delight to see Katie come in to the club. She
is a good friend to many of the members and comes a long way to
be here when she can.
Jennifer and Rosy
Sonia and Pauline
Mary and Michaela
Daniella and Genevieve
Tina and Mary
just to get a bit more Silver into the pictures, here are a couple
more repeating some of the same people as at the top.
Next wednesday, the 9th of October, we will have Karen and Nicky
here from "Love your Beads" in Blackpool so do come along
and see what goodies they have for us.
Wednesday the 25th of September 2013
Visitor from Brighton
was great to welcome a visitor from Brighton this week. I am so
sorry I cant remember her name but it was interesting to learn that
although Brighton has the reputation of being one of the leading
T Girl centres of the south, there doesn't appear to be a club like
Concord in that area. There is plenty of entertainment available,
but not a regular weekly social club that meets in a quiet bar so
that new people can get to know each other without any hassle from
the general public and members can come along any wednesday knowing
that they will meet people that they have a common bond with.
Frances and Vanessa
is good to see Fances almost fully recovered from her operation,
shown here catching up with Vanessa, who has recently been performing
at the Edinburg festival along with her daughter, so they had plenty
to talk about.
I am so pleased that Linda continues to come to the club every fortnight
and enjoy the opportunity to socialize with the other members.
Amber, Pauline and Amie
Judith and Genevieve
in the evening Pauline, from Bolton, gave a bag full of wigs to
Sarah and asked her to give them to me for the members of the club
to buy for a small donation to the club. So thanks very much Pauline,
they have now nearly all gone and the club has benefited from your
generosity. Above we have Judith and Genevieve showing off their
new wigs and a second one of Genevieve wearing another one while
leaning on the bar. We all thought that the wig Genevieve is wearing
next to Judith makes her look much younger and she proceeded to
wear it for the rest of the evening.
Millie & Frances
Lynn & Rachel
Mya & Amy
Lisa & Jasmine
shown here above right with Mya has always seemed to me to be a
very adventurous lady, so I was not very surprised when she came
over and showed me a picture from her holidays in Mauritius. It
showed her calmly stroking the back of a LION. There was a chap
with her holding a gun, but even so I dont think I would do that.
Jasmine here on the left with Lisa is here for only the second time
so welcome Jasmine you were looking very Glam this evening.
Genevieve, Tanni & Lynn
shown above with Genevieve and Lynn is getting more experimental
by the minute and loving it. It is great to see people that just
love dressing up. SO, dont forget that next week we are having a
"SILVER DRESS" theme evening. Lets make the most of it.
Finally Frances and I went along to the opening of the April Ashley
exhibition at the Liverpool Museum on thursday evening. I was glad
to also see a number of our members there. There are masses of pictures,
lots of cuttings from newspapers showing the traumas she has had
to put up with during her life, plus bits of film that help bring
her story to life. There is also a very detailed timeline showing
the progress of the changing attitudes in society plus the points
where the law was eventually changed to bring it up to date. There
is still a long way to go to get everyone treated fairly but an
awful lot has changed for the better in one lifetime. April herself
was there so it was a pleasure to see her still looking glamorous
and as sharp as ever. The exhibition is on for another year so do
take the opportunity to go and see it before it disappears.
Wednesday the 18th of September 2013
Tina, Laura, Joanne & Adam
week we had Laura and Adam from Max Factor here for the first time.
They come from the Max Factor concession in Boots in Market street
and have recently taken over from Vicky who has now retired back
to Cyprus. Vicky came to the club very often in years gone by so
it was nice to welcome the new people who have taken over the reins
from her. They talked to many people during the evening and did
a full makeover for Joanne who is standing in the background.
Sylvia, Rachel & Judith
cant see Joanne's outfit very well in the picture above so here
she is again showing it off very well.
We tried the seating pose for a change and I think she looks more
relaxed than usual like this.
Tina is at last now free of her crutch from her accident to her
leg so here is her picture as she is, back to her normal self. She
is off on another of her railway trips very soon. This time I think
it is to Bulgaria where they still have quite a number of steam
engines that they run for enthusiasts.
Below on the left we have Charlie who was at the club for the first
time and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. Welcome Charlie we hope
this is the first of many visits.
Genevieve & Dawn
Judith and Rachel
Rachel & Judith
I tried the seating pose again here with Milli and I think it makes
a very good picture which she looks really good in.
Next week is a normal club with nothing special on but the following
week we will have a SILVER theme night so you still have time to
find something suitable if you dont already have it. Get looking.
Wednesday the 11th of September 2013
Linda & Victoria
week we had Linda and Victoria with us again. They are becoming
a regular part of the club as they now bring their goodies along
about every 5 to 6 weeks. They dont only sell wigs, but also lots
of jewellery and make up and accessories. They are popular as their
prices are reasonable and they also offer good service, so thanks
to you both from us all.
Haley, Tyla and Sarah
brought along two friends, Haley and Sarah, shown here on the left,
with another new girl Tyla.
Sarah works with Tina and her friend Hayley is thinking of setting
up a dressing service so she wanted to come along and see what we
were like. They both thoroughly enjoyed their evening chatting with
a number of the ladies here and hope to return again very soon.
was lovely to see Frances back with us again after her heart operation
to fix a bad valve she has had for years. She is recovering well
and has been given a new lease of life by the NHS. Welcome back
A very unusual sight to see on the right is both Katie and Paula
with no legs on view. A complete coincidence I am told but I am
not sure I can believe it.
Katie and Paula
Sarah and Jorja
Lesley and Michelle
Brenda and Diane
Mary and Cindy
was lovely to welcome Karen, shown above in he middle. Here for
the first time but quickly gained in confidence and agreed to
allow her photo. I think she enjoyed her evening and she has promised
to return next week.
I had a wonderful surprise when a friend, who I first met here
at the club in 1987, but haven't seen since around 1986, came
in. Her name is Julie and it was really great to see her again
after all these years. We got talking for most of the rest of
the evening, so much so, that I forgot to take a picture of her
but I am sure she will be back. She no longer lives in Manchester,
which is why she disappeared from my life, but is now married
and living a very good life in Scotland. If any of the early members
of Northern Concord are reading this then they will know the Julie
I am talking about. It really was lovely to see her looking so
fit and well.
Next week we will have Laura and Adam from Max Factor in Boots
with us. They visited us a few weeks ago and are looking forward
to doing some makeovers here next wednesday.
Wednesday the 4th of September 2013
Nicky and Michael
evening we had a visit from Michael, Nicky and Sam from TRANSGLAMOUR.
Michael is a hairdresser and Nicky is alos a hairdresser but has
now trained as a beauty therapist and really enjoys doing makeup
for T girls.
They ran a session here in Villaggio's over Sparkle and really enjoyed
it so they are anxious to be able to continue helping T girls to
make the best of themselves. See their website here
Tina and Sam
We really enjoyed their company and they are very happy to come
again, so expect to see them again later in the year.
Genevieve decided that she wanted to be a model so here she is.
I realise now that she should have hidden her arm as it would have
been more realistic.
Lisa and Paula
Louise and Michelle
Milli and Lynn
Amie and Amber
was lovely to welcome back Amie and Amber.. They have not been
to the club for quite a long time and we have missed them. Amie
now has some transport again which makes it easier for them to
Next week we will have Linda and Victoria with us again selling
their wigs, jewellery and clothes so come along and buy something
new. They usually have something unexpected to show us.
Wednesday the 28th of August 2013
Liz and Rebecca
was great to welcome Liz and Rebecca this week. Rebecca has been
before, a few weeks ago, but Liz has recently moved here from Holland
and they are setting up home together here in Manchester, so hopefully
we will see more of them.
Sylvia, here on the right with Genevieve and Lisa, has now returned
from a long holiday so we can expect to see here with us again now.
Genevieve, Lisa and Sylvia
Tanni and Anna
shown here with Anna, is doing a great job for the club as she often
manages to bring new people along each time she comes. Thanks Tanni.
Zee, shown here with Genevieve, is very grateful to the club for
giving her the chance to express herself as she wishes. She has
been coming every week now for some months and is really enjoying
Genevieve and Zee
Sheila and Kelly
Sheila and Lynn
has somehow managed to acquire a tail, possibly from Pride, which
Sheila is enjoying.
Finally, Paula has at last found fame with Eddie Stobart and here
is her truck named after her to prove it.
Wednesday the 21st of August 2013
Laura and Adam
week we were meant to have Karen and Nicky from "Love your
Beads" in Blackpool with us, but they were unable to make it
because they were so busy preparing to set up their stall at Pride
here in Manchester on Saturday. They have now arranged to come on
the 9th of October.
Instead we had a visit from Laura and Adam from Max factor who have
already booked to come on the 18th of September but wished to pay
us a visit first to see how the club runs.
They stayed for a large part of the evening and I think they are
looking forward to their next visit.
Sally & Rachel
Karen, Diane, Cate and Kate
after they arrived we heard lots of loud bangs coming from outside
and when we looked out we saw all these fireworks being let off,
presumably to celebrate the start of the Pride weekend.
On the left we have Karen and Diane who had been spending time together
here in Manchester and were staying for the whole of the Pride weekend.
Above on the right we have Sally and Rachel who were here for the
first time as they were visiting Manchester from Blackpool and decided
that they would take the opportunity to visit us while they were
Fireworks over the canal
Emily and Kirsty
Mary and Cindy
Lisa and Paula
mentioned earlier it was the Pride weekend here in Manchester. A
number of our members took part in the parade and we also shared
a stand with Transforum in the Lifestyle Expo here in the village.
Karen was also asked to organise a three hour entertainment on the
stage in Sackville Gardens which was very successful with our transgender
friend Debbie Roberts as the Commere.
did manage to get to the park for a short time and caught the singer
JANUARY on the stage giving a great performance to a large crowd.
Well done Karen for all your work in putting that together.
Mary and Karen
Stand with Lynn in charge
Lynn, Mary, Anon, Liz, Jenny-Anne and Dawn
is a picture of our complete stand with Lynn looking after it, as
she did for the whole of the three days of the event. So my sincere
thanks go to her along with Genevieve who came on the Saturday to
help out after taking part in the parade.
The middle picture shows Giselle who started witn Concord several
years ago and is now married to her partner who she came along with
back then and they are both working at the LGF as counsellors while
continuing to study for further qualifications. To my mind she is
a very successful transgender lady who shows what can be achieved.
On the right we have a picture of the Transforum side of the stand
with several, but not all of the people who helped them keep it
Finally here are a couple of pictures from the parade that Genevieve
has sent me. They do show some of our ladies taking part but I will
leave you to try to pick them out. You will see some of the Transgender
flags that they were carrying as shown on the end of out table in
our stand above.
Wednesday the 14th of August 2013
were all delighted to welcome Lauren back with us again after her
three weeks off being ill. I am glad to say that she is now fully
recovered and back to her usual ebullient self. So, welcome back
Lauren, we missed you.
Early in the evening Milli came with two of her friends from work,
Paloma and Havier. They are both from Spain and wished to know more
about Milli and meet her friends. They both stayed for most of the
evening and made a number of new friends.
Paloma, Milli and Havier
Leila came along for the first time this evening full of confidence
looking georgeous with her long hair and blue dress.
A bit later Hannah came in having last visited us when we were at
the Rembrandt. This time she has joined the club so I think we might
see here a bit sooner next time. I hope so.
We also had one other newcomer but she was not yet ready to appear
here, so you will have to wait for her picture. It was her first
time out so it is very understandable that she was reluctant but
I think we will see her again very soon.
Paloma, Milli and Mary
Genevieve & Joanne
Milli & Lisa
was good to see Kelly and Sheila back with us again after all
their hard work at Sparkle. Kelly was in a new outfit complete
with these fantastic shoes that she recently bought.
I was taken completely by surprise when Laren came round from
the bar to the main part of the room and told everyone present
that I had my birthday while she was in hospital and it had not
been acknowledged here at the club. She then, to my embarassment,
got everyone singing "Happy Birthday" and sheila came
round the corner from the bar end with a plate full of cakes with
candles on. It was a lovely gesture and thank you to Lauren and
Sheila for organising it.
Kelly's new shoes
week Karen and her friend from "Love your Beads" in Blackpool
will be here with us, so do come along and see what they have for
Then on the following Saturday, the 24th of August, the Pride Parade
will take place in Manchester and the Transgender Community have
been invited to have a walking group almost at the front of the
parade. We are all invited to take part and I will be sending details
of time and place etc to all our members very soon, but please give
it some serious thought, as it would be good to have a large contingent
to show that the Trans community is alive and well.
Wednesday the 7th of August 2013
As you can see, this week we had a purple dress theme, but I hadn't
realised how many diferent shades of purple there might be.
We decided to go outside so that we could get everyone in the photo
but found that it is quite difficult to get such a wide shot. Here
I have shown it split in two at the top to get a slightly larger
We then came back inside and decided to try to see how many we could
get in and this is the best we could do.
Going outside was fun as our picture was also taken by a number
of passers by who wondered what was going on.
Nic and Damsel
large pictures at the top were actually taken using a Tablet, by
Nic, shown here on the left with Damsel.
Nic is starting a website selling larger sized shoes called Dumdum
shoes and she had written to me asking if she could come along and
get our members to fill out a questionaire about the sort of shoes
they would buy if given the chance. She is a very friendly person
and was able to get almost everyone there to answer many of her
questions so she now has a better idea of what our preferences are.
She has promised to come back when she has some stock available
so that people can try the shoes before they buy.
Zee, Damsel and Tanni
Joanne and Genevieve
Millie and Mary
Sarah and Danielle
shown on the left wth Danielle, has not been to the club for around
9 years as this is when she decided to retire to Benidorm in Spain.
She has been disappointed to find that there is not a TRANS scene
in Benidorm and has been unable to find like minded friends out
She is over here on holiday for a few weeks so if anyone knows where
she could go out there, she would be delighted to meet them.
Christine and Stacey
Cate and Jane
Susan, Cate, Jane, Katie and Lisa
Rachel and Mary
on the left with Mary, visits us from Kent when she can. She came
this week because we had advertised it as a Purple dress evening,
so it does show that it is worthwhile having these colour themes.
Thanks for coming Rachel, we enjoy having you with us.
week we had planned to have Gill Springay, The Makeover Girl,
with us but she has had to postpone her visit to some time in
September, so we will just have a normal club meeting.
